Der 1. Januar ist der Tag, an dem fast alle Erwachsenen in den Niederlanden vom Champagner pleite sind. Neben dem Aufräumen des Feuerwerkschaos und dem obligatorischen Besuch bei den Schwiegereltern haben die Niederländer am 1. Januar eine besondere Tradition.

Das niederländische Neujahrsfest beginnt mit einem Sprung in eiskaltes Wasser während des traditionellen "Neujahrstauchgangs". Angefangen hat alles im Jahr 1960 mit einem Neujahrstauchgang in Zandvoort. Das größte Silvesterbad in den Niederlanden gibt es in Scheveningen. Dieser Tauchgang im Meer bei Scheveningen begann 1965 mit 7 Personen. Heutzutage wird der Tauchgang in Scheveningen von 10.000 Personen durchgeführt, die alle gleichzeitig in das eiskalte niederländische Meerwasser gehen. Im Jahr 2020 war es in 229 niederländischen Orten möglich, das neue Jahr in der Nähe der Heimat zu feiern, ganz nach dieser niederländischen Tradition. In Giethoorn gibt es an diesem Tag keine Menschenmassen, also ideal, um ein Boot in Giethoorn zu mieten.

Ruhetag

Die meisten Niederländer haben am ersten Tag des Jahres einen freien Tag. Banken und Regierungsgebäude sind an diesem Tag geschlossen. Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel verkehren, Sonntagsfahrplan am Neujahrstag in den Niederlanden.

An diesem Tag werden in Giethoorn keine Menschenmassen zu finden sein. Ein perfekter Tag, um ein Boot zu mieten oder einen Spaziergang in Giethoorn zu machen.

Die Holländer haben über Ostern ein verlängertes Wochenende frei. Das Wochenende beginnt in der Regel am Karfreitag. Der Tag vor Ostern ist ein Feiertag. Allerdings haben nicht alle Niederländer einen freien Tag. Traditionell kommen viele Deutsche, um Ostern in den Niederlanden zu feiern. Die niederländischen Banken sind über das Osterwochenende geschlossen. Osterfeuer In den niederländischen Provinzen Drenthe, Groningen, Friesland, Overijssel, Nordbrabant und Gelderland werden am Ostersonntag und/oder -montag in vielen niederländischen Dörfern und Städten Osterfeuer entzündet. Das Ergebnis ist, dass Sie bei einem Nordostwind die Osterfeuer in den ganzen Niederlanden riechen werden. Die Tradition, Osterfeuer zu entzünden, ist sehr alt und reicht bis in die vorchristliche Zeit zurück.

Ostersonntag - 20. April

Der Holländer beginnt diesen Tag oft mit einem Osterfrühstück. Auch das Osterfrühstück wird ausgelassen und ein Osterbrunch organisiert. In den letzten Jahren haben niederländische Restaurants darauf reagiert und bieten Osterbrunchs an. Die Holländer gönnen sich gerne bemalte gekochte Eier, einen Brotkorb voller Croissants. An diesem Tag fahren die Holländer oft zur Familie, in den Wald, an den Strand oder nach Giethoorn.

Der Ostermontag beginnt wie der Ostersonntag. Traditionell gehen die Holländer am Ostermontag nach draußen. Beispiele für beliebte Ziele an diesem Montag sind die Möbelboulevards, Baumärkte, Museen, Keukenhof oder Giethoorn. Holländisches Osterfest und Kinder Vor allem niederländische Kinder freuen sich auf Ostern, weil sie gekochte Eier malen dürfen. Dann werden die Eier drinnen oder bei gutem Wetter draußen im Garten versteckt, danach geht die ganze Familie auf Schnitzeljagd, um alle Eier zu finden.

Liberation Day - May 5

This Dutch National holiday is yearly celebrated on 5 May. On this day the liberation of the German occupation in the Netherlands in 1945 is celebrated greatly. On 5 May, the Netherlands will also reflect on the great value of democracy, freedom and human rights. In 2020 the celebration was supposed to be dedicated to'75 years of freedom'. Living resistance heroes from all over the world would be celebrated this day. Unfortunately, it was cancelled, due to the corona pandemic in the Netherlands.

Liberation Day in Netherlands is normally celebrated with annual concerts and festivals. Such as, the Liberation Concert in Amsterdam and Liberation Pop in Haarlem. Therefore, Liberation Day is just like "Good Friday", a national holiday. However, not everyone is free. In fact, it is common for a day off to be given every 5 years.
