A return journey by public transport (train plus regional bus) costs approximately €59 per person, while the direct bus tour costs around €39 per person. That means you save about €20 per person by choosing the bus tour.
Besides the price difference, the train journey requires at least one transfer — usually a train to Steenwijk or Zwolle followed by a local bus to Giethoorn. This makes the trip longer and more complicated, especially for visitors unfamiliar with the Dutch transport system. In contrast, the bus tour is direct: you depart from Amsterdam and are dropped off close to the center of Giethoorn without any transfers.
You also benefit from a guaranteed seat on a comfortable coach, no need to figure out ticket machines or schedules, and no stress about missing connections. When you combine the lower price (€39 instead of €59), the direct route, and the overall convenience, the bus tour is clearly the better and more cost-effective option.
